How the test works
Click the box and start typing the passage shown. The timer starts with your first key press and runs for 60 seconds. At the end you see your speed in words per minute (WPM) and your accuracy.
How speed is counted
We use the common standard that five characters count as one word. Only correct characters count toward net speed, so accuracy affects your result.
Practise well
- Keep your wrists relaxed and look at the screen, not the keyboard.
- Focus on accuracy first. Speed follows with practice.
- Practise for ten to fifteen minutes daily rather than for hours once a week.
- Some tests have their own rules, such as key depressions or backspace counting. Read the official instructions for your exam.
