A potential client rarely knows you. They may find you through a recommendation, a social post or a search. In a minute or two they decide whether to contact you or move on. A clear freelancer profile makes that decision easier. It tells visitors what you do, shows proof and makes it simple to take the next step.

Say exactly what you do

Replace vague titles with a clear statement: "I design logos and brand kits for small food businesses" is better than "creative designer". Name the service, the type of client and the result. This builds credibility and helps the right people find you.

Offer a small number of services

List three to five services at most. Describe each one in plain language: what is included, who it is for and how long it takes. Too many options confuse visitors. If you offer packages, name them clearly and explain the difference.

Show your best work

Choose three to six samples that match the work you want more of. For each, add a short description: the client's need, what you did and the outcome. If you have no clients yet, create sample projects or redesign an existing small business as a practice piece, and label it honestly. Use clear images and working links.

Add proof from real people

Testimonials, short reviews and results are powerful. Ask satisfied clients for one or two sentences about your work, and ask permission to publish their names. If you have none, share concrete details such as turnaround times or tools used. Never make up reviews. They damage trust and may violate consumer protection laws.

Be clear about process and timelines

Explain how a project works: enquiry, discussion, quote, payment terms, work, revisions and delivery. Clients feel safer when they know what to expect. A simple five-step process and an average delivery time is enough.

Give pricing signals

You do not have to list every price, but give an idea: "Logo packages start at ₹5,000" or "Hourly rates available on request". Pricing signals filter out poor matches and save time for both sides. Our guide on pricing freelance services can help you decide.

Make contacting you easy

Add a clear call to action: "Request a quote" or "Message on WhatsApp". Provide an email address and one other contact method. Reply quickly and politely. Many projects are won simply because someone answered first.

Keep the profile consistent

Use the same name, photo and description on your portfolio, LinkedIn, Instagram and other profiles. Link them to each other. A single hub, such as a Pehchan profile with your links, services and contact buttons, helps clients see everything in one place.

Protect yourself

Use a written agreement or a clear email confirming the scope, price, deadlines and payment schedule. Keep copies of messages and invoices. Be cautious about clients who ask for free "test work" with no limits, or who pressure you to skip contracts.

Review regularly

Every month, update your samples, remove outdated work and check that all links work. Ask yourself: if I were a client, would I know what to do after reading this? Keep improving until the answer is yes.
